September is National Recovery Month

As many of you know, September is National Recovery Month, highlighting the importance of supporting and celebrating friends, family, and loved ones in recovery. Early this month, the Georgia Recovers Bus Tour visited Smyrna on their way around the state promoting and advocating for policy and community support recovery programs.

I had the pleasure of reading a proclamation by Derek Norton – Mayor, City of Smyrna recognizing September as Recovery Month in Smyrna. The Georgia Council for Recovery is a leading advocacy group striving to address the prejudice and discrimination faced by people impacted by substance abuse that is preventing them from seeking help.

All of us are know someone in recovery or working hard to enter recovery. For me, it is by the grace of God that I or loved ones avoid the disease of addiction. In the month of September, please take an extra moment to connect with someone in recovery.

Big thanks for honored local community representatives who understand the importance of recovery programs in Smyrna and Cobb County: Representative Teri Anulewicz, Georgia House District 42#. @Cobb County District Attorney Flynn Broady; Sharon Cooper;
